The Main Menu items for Ensign Windows are on the top row of the program window.

Other menu items will appear as needed by the program. Click on any menu item with the mouse to view the corresponding menu selections. To activate the menu using the keyboard, press the Alt key. Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to select a menu item and then press Enter to view the menu selections. Each menu item has an underlined letter. This letter is a hot key to the menu item. For example, press Alt-F to display the File menu, and then press X to Exit the program. If desired, the Menu can be moved to a different location on the screen. The menu is contained on a Toolbar. The vertical Toolbar handle (on the left edge of the Toolbar) allows you to drag the Menu Toolbar to any location on the screen. Pop-up Menus A pop-up menu can be displayed by right-clicking the mouse within any window. For example, right-click the mouse on a chart to view a chart pop-up menu. Pop-up menus appear in the middle of the screen and are used just like regular menu items. A pop-up menu contains menu items that are specific to the window being used. Most software features can be selected from the main menu items at the top of the screen, but the pop-up menus are accessed quicker and are more specialized to a particular window.
View Menu Select View from the main menu to hide or display entire Toolbars. Select View | Dock All Toolbars to dock all the Toolbars to the edge of the screen. This may be necessary if you have lost track of a floating Toolbar.

Using Toolbars Ensign Windows displays several Toolbars at the top of the screen. Each Toolbar contains several buttons that provide access to various features in the program. Click on a button to access the program feature. The button will be dimmed if the feature is currently unavailable. For example, chart buttons will be dimmed if a Chart is not the active window. The Toolbars can be dragged to any location on the screen. Each Toolbar has a vertical handle on the left edge of the Toolbar. Drag on the handle to adjust the Toolbar position, or to dock the Toolbar on a different edge of the screen. Toolbar buttons can be shown with or without Text labels. The Main Toolbar is shown below with and without Text Labels. To conserve space on a Toolbar, remove the Text Labels.

Select Set-Up | Toolbars from the main menu to open the Toolbar set-up window. The Toolbar set-up window allows you to hide or display each button on a Toolbar. The set-up window also allows you to specify whether a Toolbar displays Text Labels or not. Place a check mark next to each button that you want to display. Uncheck a box to hide a button or remove the Text Labels. If you never use a particular button, then hide the button so that it doesn't take up space on the Toolbar.
