Ensign: Time and Sales

The Time & Sales window is a convenient place to examine the time, price, and tick volume for each tick. This feature is most often used by traders and brokers to verify timely fills on trade orders.  Select Time & Sales from the Quotes, Chart, or Options menus or pop-up menus to view a Time & Sales window for a selected symbol.

The Time & Sales window displays each price change (tick) that has occurred for the selected symbol. The window displays the Symbol, Date, Time, Price, and Tick Volume.  The most recent ticks are at the top of the list.  The list will update in real-time as new ticks are received.  Use the UP and DOWN arrow buttons to scroll up and down through the tick data.

Click the Chart button to open a tick chart view of the Time & Sales prices.  The chart will contain the ticks that are displayed in the Time & Sales window.  As you scroll up and down through the prices in the Time & Sales window, the chart will also change, and display the corresponding price data.

To Delete a tick, double-click the mouse on the 'Date' or 'Time' number for a given tick price.

The Time & Sales window has a 'Find' feature that allows you to find a specific time and date.  A 'Date' entry box, and a 'Time' entry box are located at the top left of the Time & Sales window.  These entry boxes allow you to find prices for a specific time, and a specific date.   Example, enter 12-28 in the Date box (to indicate December 28th). Enter 10:45 in the Time box (to indicate 10:45 a.m.).  Click the Find button to find the prices that occurred at 10:45 a.m. on December 28th.  If the Date and Time boxes are blank when you click on the Find button, then you will jump to the most current ticks.  You can also double-click the mouse in the Date or Time entry boxes to clear the boxes and return to the most current ticks.

The Time & Sales prices can filtered by Volume. Enter a Volume size in the right-side entry box.  Example, enter 5000 to filter all Time & Sales prices with Volume less than 5000.  This allows you to view only the larger ticks that occur.

The Font and Font Size for the Time & Sales window can be changed by selecting Window | Set Window Font from the menu.

Synching Time & Sales windows with Charts
Ensign Windows allows Charts and Time & Sales windows to be grouped together by Symbol.  The grouping is accomplished by using a color box.  The Time & Sales window contains a 'SymbolGroup' color box in the top left corner of the window.  Click on the color box to change the color.  Match the color of the Time & Sales 'SymbolGroup' color box with a group of charts.  When the charts change to a different symbol, then the Time & Sales window will change to the same symbol.  This allows you to synchronize the Time & Sales window to symbol changes in the charts.  Click here for more information.

Note:  Multiple Time & Sales windows can be open at the same time.  Press Ctrl-Q from the keyboard, while the Time & Sales window is active, to open a Snap Quote window for the selected symbol.
