Setup: Manager

Select Set-Up | Manager from the menu to view the Manager screen. This screen is used to manually enter a list of symbols which the software will track and collect data for.

Entering and Deleting Symbols
The eSignal, IQFeed, and Interactive Brokers versions of Ensign Windows require you to specify each symbol that you want to follow.  The list of Symbols is managed on this screen.  If a symbol does not appear in the symbol list, then you will not be able to view a Quote for the symbol.  Enter symbols in the 'Add Symbol' entry box.  The entered symbols will be added to the Manager list box.  To Delete symbols from the Manager list box click the mouse cursor in the list box, then highlight a symbol and press Delete on the keyboard.  Click the Check Symbols button to flag symbols in the list that are no longer valid or have expired. The invalid symbols will be marked with '>>>' (example: >>>SP3M ). This allows you to easily identify symbols that should be deleted from the list.

Check the 'Auto Add Symbols' checkbox so that when you open a new Chart or enter a new symbol on a Custom Quote Page, the symbol is automatically added to the Manager list.

Symbol formats vary among data vendor feeds.  This table shows some common symbols.

Maintaining Multiple Symbol Portfolios
At the bottom of the Manager symbol list box are 6 tabs labeled 1 through 6.  The tabs allow you to enter a different list of symbols on each tab (each capable of holding up to 1000 symbols).  Creating more than one symbol list allows you to quickly swap-out the symbols that are being updated in Ensign Windows with a different set of symbols.  A counter (above the list box) displays how many symbols are currently in the active list.  When you click a tab, then all the quote prices for the selected Symbol list will be updated.  The 6 symbol portfolios are saved in the \ENSIGN sub-directory with filenames:

SYMBOLS.DAT     SYMBOL2.DAT     SYMBOL3.DAT
SYMBOL4.DAT     SYMBOL5.DAT     SYMBOL6.DAT

Proxy Settings
The eSignal version of Ensign Windows has a few optional 'Proxy' settings for customers who have difficulties getting data through their computer network.  If necessary, contact Ensign Software Support for help with these settings.
