Setup: Connection BarChart
|
Ensign Windows is compatible with the BarChart data-feed. Before using the BarChart data-feed you must subscribe to the data-feed. BarChart.com will provide you with a Username and Password that are entered on the Ensign Connection screen. If you have questions about the data-feed please contact BarChart. You also need to download and install the Ensign Data Server software from the Ensign web site. This allows Ensign to connect to BarChart as a data source. In the Ensign Connection screen select 'BarChart' as the 2nd Data Source. The BarChart data source can run simultaneously with any data-feed in the 1st Data Source and 4th Data Source. For example, you could receive live data from DTN IQFeed (as the 1st Data Source), BarChart (as the 2nd Data Source), and FXCM (as the 4th Data Source) all at the same time.
The following steps need to be taken to have Ensign Windows work with the BarChart data feed:
- Download Ensign Windows and the Ensign Data Server (EDS) from the Ensign web site. Click this link to go to the Downloads page.
- Run Ensign Windows
- Click on menu Setup | Connection
- In the frame for 2nd Data Feed, use the drop down box to select BarChart.
- Type in your BarChart User ID, Password, and Reconnect time (hh:mm format) in the 2nd Data Source frame. The Ensign Data Server (EDS) should be launched automatically and the data begin to feed into Ensign Windows.
- The BarChart feed may be used simultaneously with another vendor's feed, and with the FXCM feed. For example, you could have feeds from BarChart, Interactive Brokers, and FXCM being processed simultaneously.

Symbols Add to the Setup | Manager list those symbols that you want to collect data into the Ensign database for charting. Enter all BarChart symbols with an '=' character prefix. Click the button on the main tool bar to open a quote page. Click the Nasdaq button on the bottom of the quote page to show the Nasdaq market group page. The BarChart symbols will show on the Stock and Futures quote pages and have an = sign character prefix so the BarChart symbols will not be confused with futures symbols from another data vendor, such as those from eSignal, IQFeed, or Interactive Brokers.
