Studies: Zones Study Mode

Q:  I’m using the DMI indicator and focus on the up index and down index crossing above the mid line (50) to help me with trend direction.  I would like to plot the index (up or down) that is above 50 ONLY.  In other words, I don’t want to plot anything below 50.

A:  Use the Zones Study Mode and set up something like this.

The Zones selection plots in 3 areas:  Above, Between and Below.  The ADX in this example did not exceed 50, so the example shows plotting when above 25 by having the top 2 rows of the ADX selection plot, and the Below 25 row has No Line selected for plotting.   The ADX line is plotting the Between and Above in White as the thin line.  The Below 25 zone could plot in blue but the line style was change to the Blank selection, thus hiding the line.

Q:  Thanks, but I’m trying to plot the up and down index and they don’t have the zones value options.

A:  Put on a Moving Average study and set the Data Points to read the MACD Up and Down Index values and plot them using the Zones selection on the Moving Average. In this example, the original MACD plot is shown in the bottom sub-window and the conditional plot of the Up and Down index lines in the top sub-window.
