Setup: Connection IQFeed

Before using the DTN IQFeed you must download and install the IQFEED program from the Ensign web site Downloads page. You must also subscribe to the DTN IQFeed data-feed service so that you have a data-feed account with DTN.  If you have questions about DTN IQFeed please contact DTN.

In Ensign Windows, click the  Setup | Connection  menu and select  'IQFeed or DTN.IQ'  as the 1st Data Source.  If necessary, click the 'Connect to IQfeed' button to manually connect to the DTN IQFeed. When Ensign Windows first connects to the IQFeed you will be asked to enter your DTN login number and password. These are obtained from DTN when you subscribe to the data-feed.  A DTN icon will appear in the System Tray (bottom right of screen) when the DTN IQFeed is running.  Double-click on the icon to view the data-feed status.

Check the  'Auto Run IQFeed'  check box to have Ensign Windows automatically run the IQFeed Connect program when Ensign runs.  In the IQFeed Connect program, enter your account and password information.

Click menu  Setup | Manager and enter on this list the symbols that are to be followed.   A symbol must be on this list for the data to be requested from the IQFeed server.   Futures symbols will use the IQFeed format which is the root symbol, month letter, year digit.   Example:   @ESZ8.    Continuation symbol format is the root symbol, and #.  Example:  @ES#.    Index symbols have a suffix, such as .X.   Example:  INDU.X 

Historical refresh for ticks, intra-day bars, daily, weekly and monthly data is available from IQFeed.  Refresh from charts or from the Database Manager to download the history.

IQFeed can be used simultaneously with the TransAct Futures feed, the TraderBytes feed,  and with the FXCM Forex feed.

IQFeed Download Instructions:

• You will need to download and install both the IQFeed software and Ensign Windows.
• Click the IQFeed link on the Download page to start the download.
• The browser will ask 'Would you like to open the file or save it to your computer?'
• Click the 'Open' button.  The download will proceed.
• When the download is finished, the installation will start.  Proceed through the installation.
• Warning:   The IQFeed application MUST be installed in folder  C:\Program Files\DTN\IQFeed
• When Ensign Windows runs, it will automatically start the IQFeed software.
• The first time IQFeed runs you will have to enter your IQFeed account and password.
• If you are installing an upgrade of IQFeed, please uninstall the older IQFeed version first.

IQFeed Version 4.5.0.3

• Q:  What is the difference between IQFeed and DTN.IQ?
  A:  IQFeed is the name for the Internet streaming data feed from DTN.  DTN.IQ is the name for DTN's charting software that uses (includes) the IQFeed.
• Q:  So, should I subscribe to IQFeed or to the DTN.IQ?   I am confused.
  A:  Sorry for the confusion.  A subscription to either one will give you the IQFeed that is the data feed for Ensign Windows.  Decide which offer is the best price for you.
• Q:  What is the total cost if I want just real-time data for the Emini contract?
  A:  $55 IQFeed + $20 real-time Futures + $15 Emini exchange fees + $49.95 Ensign Windows.

  A:  Install Ensign Windows in the same C:\Ensign folder.   The IQFeed version will replace your other version.  Your workspaces, templates, and studies will be retained.  The futures and index symbols use a different format, so you will have to fix your workspaces.
• Q:  What is the IQFeed symbol for the e-mini and the Dow Jones Industrial index?
  A:  @ESH9  and  INDU.X 
• Q:  What is the symbol limit for the IQFeed?
  A:  1500 symbols can be watched simultaneously.  Ensign automatically adds and removes the options chain symbols from the watch list as the options page is opened and closed.
