Ensign: Internet Services

Click the Internet Services button, or select menu File | Open | Internet Services to display this form.

The Internet Services form is used to perform 6 main functions involving the Internet. Click the links on this web page for more information about each feature.

Download
Select the 'Download' Tab to view a list of download selections. The most commonly utilized feature is the 'Ensign Windows Upgrade' selection. This allows you to automatically download and install the latest version of Ensign Windows. To begin a download of the Ensign Windows program, click the Download button. A progress bar will inform you of the download process. When the download has been completed, Ensign Windows will save all files and Exit. The SETUP.EXE program will then automatically run and install the new version of the software. To run the SETUP.EXE file at a later time, simply exit the Ensign Windows program and then run the SETUP.EXE file from the \ENSIGN folder. Updated Help files will be downloaded with the program file. Occasionally, it may be necessary to download and install a prior version, or a debug version of Ensign Windows. Both of these versions can also be downloaded from this screen.

Workspace, Template, ESPL, and Playback Files
Ensign Windows allows users to share files. Sample Workspace, Template, ESPL, and Playback files can be downloaded from this screen. The selected download files will be saved to the default file locations for the file type. For example, Workspace files are saved to \ENSIGN\WORKSPACE. Template files are saved to the \ENSIGN\TEMPLATE folder. The files will appear in the Workspace and Templates lists. ESPL files are saved to the \ENSIGN\ESPL folder.

History and Quote Page Files
Ensign Software updates and maintains several chart files. These files have long term data. You can download these charts and then use the Refresh to fill-in the most recent bars. Some sample custom Quote Pages can also be downloaded.

Data
The 'Data' panel allows you to download chart data from the Internet. Ensign Windows users who do not have a data-feed can use this feature to update their charts. Manually enter chart symbols in the 'Download' symbols list. Enter chart Time Frames in the six Time Frame entry boxes. Click the Download button to download and merge the chart files for each Time Frame. The download process will automatically merge the chart data into the appropriate Ensign Windows chart file locations. If a chart file cannot be downloaded within 30 seconds then it will be skipped. Chart files for most stocks, futures, indices, mutual funds, money market symbols, and stock options are available. Tabs at the bottom of the panel allow you to set-up nine separate download lists if desired. Click a tab and then enter symbols in the list. Each tab will remember its unique list of chart Symbols and Time Frames. If necessary, click the Abort button to stop the download process. Click the Disclaimer button to read a disclaimer regarding any data files that are downloaded to your computer. Click the Symbol Guide button to view the format for all symbols that can be entered for downloading. Click the Help button to view web help for the data download page.
