Charts: Charts Panel

Previous | Next

The 2nd button on the main button bar displays a chart panel where it is quick and easy to display a chart.

The panel will open showing the symbol and the time frame that was last used.   The entry on either list can be changed by clicking once in a list.   If the time frame is already selected, you can double click on the symbol to open a new chart   If the symbol is already selected, you can double click on the time frame list to open a new chart.

A new chart will be opened if the Symbol Group color is black.  If the color is something else, then Ensign tries to find a chart with the same symbol group color, and changes the symbol on the chart that is already open.

To add symbols to the Symbols list, type a Symbol in the Enter Symbol box and then click the ADD  button.  If you press ENTER after typing a Symbol then it will OPEN the entered chart (rather than adding the symbol to the list)  The 'Enter Symbol' edit box can be used to manually type any chart symbol and open the chart.  Press ENTER to open a chart.  Click the ADD button to add the symbol to the Symbols list.

The 'New Chart' and 'Replace'  selections specify whether or not to Open a NEW CHART,  or to REPLACE an already open chart with a new selection.  Example, if an IBM daily chart is already open and the 'Replace' entry is selected,  then if you select a chart symbol, the the IBM chart will be REPLACED (instead of opening a NEW chart)

The symbols in the Chart Symbols list can not be SCROLLED through.  You must use a Quote Page, and then press the HOME and END keys, or click the UP and DOWN SCROLL arrow buttons.

The Open, Close, Delete and Add buttons on this panel operate on the symbol list in the same manner that the buttons on the Workspace panel operated on the workspace list.  The Delete button can also remove the last time frame clicked on in a time frame column.

More times can be added to the four time frame columns by entering the new time frame in the Enter Symbol or TF box, and then click the Add button.  Example:  Enter -89 and click the Add button to add -89 to the Tick column as a new constant tick time frame selection.

Check the Lock Studies check box when you want to keep a chart's study set and properties and just swap the symbol.  You would probably want to use this mode for scrolling symbols through a chart symbol group.   Otherwise, each chart will bring up its own studies (if it had any).  This gives you the option to either SCROLL through several charts with the SAME set of  studies, or NOT.

The 'Symbol Group' color grouping box can be used to OPEN a new symbol in all the charts that match the Color Symbol Group.
