Charts: Emailing charts and files

Ensign Windows allows you to e-mail charts, screen images, text messages, and file attachments. An Internet connection is required. This allows you to quickly and easily e-mail chart images, files, and text to other traders, associates, and clients.

To e-mail an image, you must first display the chart or screen that you want to send. Then press CTRL-E on the keyboard or click File | E-Mail Image from the menu.  The current screen image or chart will be saved to a graphics file, and the Internet Services E-mail window will be displayed.  You can also open the screen by clicking on the Internet Services button and then selecting the 'E-mail' tab.

Specify the E-mail Recipients:

Place a check mark in the 'Ensign Support' box to send the e-mail to Ensign Software Support.
Place a check mark in the 'Ensign Software' box to send the e-mail to Ensign Software.
Place a check mark in the 'Other' box to send the e-mail to a specified e-mail address.
Place a check mark in the 'List' box to send the e-mail to a list of e-mail addresses. Multiple e-mail lists can be maintained. Click the TABS (from 1 to 8) to setup additional e-mail address lists.

Sender Information and Outgoing Mail Server:

Enter your own e-mail address in the 'Enter your e-mail address here' entry box. This e-mail address will be used as the e-mail sender and reply address.

Enter the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) address that your Internet host uses. For example, your Outgoing Mail Server might be smtp.ibm.com if you were a customer of the IBM mail network. You can find your Outgoing Mail Server address by opening your e-mail program on your computer, and looking in the account information setup. For Outlook Express users, select Tools from the menu, then Accounts. Open the Properties window for your e-mail account. Select the 'Servers' tab and make a note of the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) address.

Note: Some e-mail servers do not support this feature (example: AOL). Leave this box blank if your e-mail service is not compatible.

File Attachment:

The current screen image will be saved to a .PNG graphics file. The file will be saved to the \ENSIGN\IMAGES folder on the hard disk, or the folder that you specify in the Images Set-Up screen. Select Set-Up | Images from the menu to display the Images Set-Up screen. If desired you can change the 'Hard disk path' where the image will be saved.

The .PNG file will be attached to the e-mail by default. Click the Browse button to browse your hard disk and attach a different file. This enables you to e-mail a Workspace file, Template file, Quote page file, or any other file that you select.  Click the View button to view the contents of your attached file. The file can be a .PNG file or a text file.

E-mail Subject Line and Message Text:

A default e-mail Subject Line will be created. If desired, you can change the Subject Line. Additional text can be added to the Subject Line by using the 'Subject Suffix' box (which is not entered automatically).

Text can be entered in the 'Message text' memo box. The text will be included in the e-mail message body.

Click the Send button to send the e-mail. When the e-mail has been successfully sent, a 'Finished' message will appear and the computer will beep.
