Templates: Security for distribution

Q:  How do I extend the time authorization to the other user(s) for my template settings.  Assume that one or more users are authorized to use 6 different template settings until 4-10-07 and that I want to extend the authorization to 5-10-07.  Is this done by e-mail?  Can I send one authorization and extend all template settings at once?   Where is the authorization housed in the second parties program?   One common place or in each template?   If I make a template name change with the new authorization, will the expired template stay in their program or vanish from their program eliminating the need for them to remove the clutter of the expired template?

A:  I assume you are the creator of the Template and to the Template you added a Template Security object and on this Security form you have the bullet selected for  Enable Until the Expiration Date and the date selection is currently set for  04-10-07.   You would return to the property form for the Template Security and change the date selection using the calendar that shows when you click on the drop down arrow by the Expiration Date.  Click the OK button.    If you have more than one template, each template would have a Template Security object and need to be changed and resaved and redistributed.

Resave your Template and e-mail to your customers the new Template file.   They would save the template file from your e-mail in the same template folder they used for the earlier template.  If your new template has the same name then the earlier template file is replaced with your new one.  If you do a name change then they will have both template files, but the earlier one will expire on 04-10-07 and only the new one will calculate through 05-10-07.
Q:  I know how to secure my trading Templates........by expiry and also privatize.  My question is this.  Is there a way to apply a transparent shield to prevent others to copy the template and forward to others?   In other words I would like to make it that they can not copy or forward a copy of the template to others.

A:  Add a Template Security object to the Template and on this object property form set the Security Level to Enable for those on the Ensign ID list.    You will have to gather from the intended user the Ensign ID by clicking menu Setup | Security.   Do not include the first letter from the Ensign ID.   Add to the list just the last 8 characters which is 2 letters and 6 digits.   Example:   AB123456

We cannot prevent a file from being forwarded, but with this security object in your template the template will not run on other computers.
