Studies: What is a MACD spread histogram

Q:  Could you please tell me why there are different lengths of the bars in the histogram in the MACD study.  And what do they represent.  What I am referring to is when you check the spread box in the MACD properties window you get bars on either side of the center line    These bars have different lengths  Why are these bars different lengths?  Do they have something to do with volume?   Price maybe?  What are the lengths trying to tell me?

A:  The spread histogram is showing the distance between the two study lines.   So the histogram spread will cross the zero center line when one study line crosses the other study line.
