Hardware: Mouse Wheel behavior fix

Q: When scroll bars show on the screen, my mouse wheel moves the scroll bars instead of operating on the chart to expand or compress bar spacing. Why?

A: Apparently operating systems are different. On my Win XP Home edition, the mouse wheel for the chart can be set to expand and compress bars, and this is the function it perform when the chart has focus regardless of whether there are horizontal or vertical scroll bars on the screen from the workspace being bigger than the desktop. That is how it works for me. If I want to move the desktop view up or down, left or right, I have to drag the scrollbars with the mouse. My mouse wheel does not move the scrollbars.

After seeing your email, I went to the mouse properties dialogue in Control Panel. There is a troubleshooting function there on the wheel tab. It tells you to go to the problematic program, and then tell it you're there. It made some kind of changes (excluding Ensign from the wheel mouse) and after that, my Ensign works just like yours. Useful to know if anyone else ever bugs you with the same problem.
